Veterans Team Recovery Integrative Immersion Process (Vet TRIIP)
In-person IIP Sessions are currently suspended due to COVID-19.
Register to be notified when planned online services are available.

The Veterans Team Recovery Integrative Immersion Process (Vet TRIIP) is a short term multi-modality complementary integrative immersion program for veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress symptoms and related symptoms.  Our Goal is to assist veterans and servicemembers; their families and caregivers; and service providers with Post-Traumatic Stress and related symptoms, chronic pain, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries to return to a happy, peaceful, productive and successful civilian life.

The Vet TRIIP Program has three main components:

The Integrative Immersion Process (IIP) Sessions
The Goal of the IIP sessions is to promote relaxation, more comfort and better sleep.  These temporary benefits may only several days to two weeks, but that window of relaxation, more comfort and better sleep supports and enhances the benefits of the counseling services and various types of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) readily available from the VA hospitals, outpatient clinics and the Vet Centers.

The complementary modalities integrated into the IIP sessions include:
       EFT                            Therapeutic Massage                           Acupuncture
Qigong / Reiki             Chiropractic Rebalancing                     Meditation / Mindfulness
Music Therapy            Aromatherapy                                       Cold Laser Treatments
       Magnetic Products      Far Infrared Products

The Vet TRIIP STRESS Resilience and Relaxation Training
The Goal of the STRESS R & R Training is to teach veterans how to build Core Resilience to regain their adaptability and flexibility to operate successfully in a civilian environment.
Core Resilience is increased and strengthened by daily use of the self-directed practices taught in the STRESS R & R Training:
EFT                                          Personal Qigong                        Meditation / Mindfulness
Good Nutrition                          Good Sleep Hygiene                 Peer Mentoring
       Relaxing Exercise--Qigong / Tai Chi / Qigong

The Vet TRIIP Exercise Classes—Qigong / Tai Chi / Yoga
A fundamental skill for building Core Resilience is to practice a daily exercise program which promotes general well-being and relaxation.  Three traditional exercise practices have several thousand years of success with warrior cultures in India and China:  Qigong, Tai Chi and Yoga.  Recent research studies have documented the many healthy benefits of these ancient warrior relaxation and training programs.

Vet TRIIP History
Vet TRIIP was developed by Bob Deschner and Dottie Goodsun in conjunction with many talented volunteers at the Austin Veterans and Family Advocacy Council (AVFAC), the Academy for Oriental Medicine at Austin (www.aoma.edu) and Adam Coleman who founded SaveAVet.  The Vet TRIIP program is based on the successful full time programs at Fort Bliss (the Restoration and Resilience Program developed by Dr. John Fortunato) at Fort Hood (the DAMC Warrior Combat Stress Reset Program developed by Dr. Jerry Wesch).
